The County Fair

I took Brady and Addison to the fair for the first time ever last night! I was a little nervous about taking them, because I thought Brady would be too scared to ride anything, but boy was I wrong. We went with our friends Ben and April and their little girl Mary Beth, who is Brady's age. Chris was at a football game in Augusta, so he couldn't be there with us. But we had fun and took lots of pictures to share. Brady enjoyed riding the carousel, saying "up and down" the whole time while riding the horse. But his absolute favorite thing was the big slide!!! We had to go down that slide a hundred times and everytime we'd get to the bottom, he'd jump up squealing and bounce around saying "go again mama, go again." It was fabulous to watch how excited he got. Addison just sat in the stoller and looked at all the lights and just watched everyone! The weather was perfect...not to hot and not too cold!! We even got to see a camel, which was pretty cool, until we later found out that the camel threw a little child off it's back during one of the camel rides! The child was ok, just a little bump on the head, but can't say that I blame the camel! The person overseeing the camel rides, walked the camel around inside the fair where all the people were running and screaming. I'm sure it made the camel nervous; heck, I was nervous with all the young kids there that were running and screaming and acting crazy!!!

October 31, 2009

Well, today had mulitple purposes...Georgia vs Florida and Halloween!! We all knew that Florida was going to beat Georgia, but we still supported our team by dressing in red and black!! Even little Miss Addison had on her Black and red Georgia Bulldogs dress!

Halloween was a blast. Mom and dad, as well as Jill, Ben, and Hannah came down to go trick or treating with us! A couple of weeks ago, Brady and I went to Target to find a costume for Addison. He had already decided that he wanted to be an elephant for halloween, so I was going to order his costume off line. Well, while we were at Target, he found a pumpkin outfit, and decided that both he and Addison should be pumpkins!! As you can see, that's what they both were! Hannah Grace dressed up as Alice in Wonderland and Ben dressed up as a Georgia Bulldog football player! We made it halfway around the block when Ben decided he was ready to go back to the house and pass out candy to the trick or treaters, so Jill took him back. So that left Chris and me with Hannah Grace, Addison, and Brady. Well, then Addison started getting fussy because it was so hot (probably about 75 degrees), so Chris took her and Hannah back home to mom and dad, which left me with Brady. At the last house on our street, there was a man dressed up as a werewolf or something. Anyway, his costume scared Brady so badly that he was done. He didn't want to do any more trick or treating! He was ready to go home. So we went home and he helped Aunt Jill pass out candy. Though, I think he actually just sat there and ate candy while Jill passed out candy!

Brady's first Dentist Appointment

I know that it's been a while since I've posted anything, and since my last post, Brady has had his first dentist appointment. He was so good! He really enjoyed riding up and down in the chair. He got to pick out his very own toothbrush and even got to pick a surprise out of the toy chest! He kept asking when he was going to see the dentist, even when she was sitting right beside him. He liked getting his teeth polished. I think the polisher tickled his lips, and he even let Dana, the dental hygenist, floss his teeth!! I think I've got a child that is going to like having clean teeth! Maybe we can prevent him from getting any cavities!!

Well, Labor Day has come and gone and I'm just now getting pictures posted. Chris and I got to enjoy the day together with Brady and Addison. Brady played in his swimming pool, played with bubbles, and watered the grass with water from the pool. Chris studied most of the day and eventually he ended up taking a nap with Addison! The grasshopper was Brady's swimming partner on Labor Day, so I thought I'd take a picture.
Yesterday was my first day back at work since Addison was born. Boy was it a long and exhausting day! When I got home, Chris was getting ready to grill us steaks! It was wonderful to not have to worry about dinner!! Yesterday was also Addison's first day at daycare. She did GREAT! Brady, on the other hand, had a hard time leaving her in her classroom. But he's got a great teacher who took him to her class a couple of times so he could check in on her! What a great big brother he is!!

Today, Addison went to the doctor for yet another weight recheck. She weighed 8lbs 8oz. In the words of Dr. Cooper "not great, but not horrible." I calculated it today, and she has only gained a total of 2 lbs since she was born. We can't understand why she isn't gaining weight because she eats 4 ounces every 3-4 hours. We have to go back for another weight check on 9/21/09. Brady will join us that day for his flu shot.

Anyway, I just thought I'd update everyone on what has been happening with our family this last week!

Game Day

Addison went back to the doctor this past Monday for a weight recheck and had gained 13 ounces, weighing in at 8lbs 1 ounce! We are so thankful that she has finally started gaining weight!! She is still too little for most of her newborn clothes, but she is starting to fill out a little more, especially in her cheeks!! We will go back to the doctor on 9/11/09 for one more weight check before her 2 month check up.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts at getting a toddler rail for Brady's crib, we finally decided just to go ahead a convert it to a full size bed and get side rails for it from target/walmart. Brady loves his "new" big boy bed!

Today we are getting ready for Georgia's first football game against Oklahoma State! As you can see, Addison is all decked out for the game! Good Luck Dawgs!!!

Addison's Check -up

Addison went back to the doctor yesterday for a weight recheck. She had gained 4.4 ounces since last Wednesday! I was so excited. That meant no hospitalization for her. Dr. Cooper (her pediatrician) said that although she hasn't gained what he would have liked for her to have gained, we are on the right path. So, he just wants to see her again next Monday to make sure we are continuing to gain weight!! Thanks for all your prayers!!

Update on our lives

Well, Addison is a little over three weeks old now and has yet to gain back to her birth weight. At her 2 week checkup she was only 6lbs 13 oz and a week later had only regained 2 ounces, weighing in at 6lbs 15oz. Her pediatrician is wanting to reweigh her on Monday and says that if she hasn't gained the weight that he thinks she should, he is going to put her in the hospital. I am having to keep a log of when she eats, how much she eats, and when she pees and poops. It hasn't been much fun, but we hope and pray that she is gaining the weight she needs to gain! We just want her to be healthy and happy!

Brady adores his little sister. He loves to touch her hands and her feet and kiss her on the head. He likes to help hold her bottle while she is eating! The first thing he asks when he wakes up in the mornings is "Momma, where's Addi?" It is so cute. I was afraid he might be jealous of all the attention that I have to give to Addison, but he has adjusted well. We still have to remind him that he must be gentle with her, but I think that goes for most 2 year olds.

Chris has started his second semester of his Master's program. If all goes as planned, he should be finished with his Master's degree in May. He wants to be a guidance counselor. He is currently teaching social studies at one of the local middle schools and enjoys his job and his co-workers, but is ready for a change. He will be the head coach of the middle school baseball team in the spring, which I think he is secretly looking forward to! He loves coaching!

Not much has changed in my life, except obviously I have 2 kids now (3 counting Chris!!). I still work at the Emergency room as a registered nurse, but am always looking for "the perfect job," if it really exists! I like what I do, but would love to find a job with hours that are more appropriate for having 2 kids!!

Addison Leigh O'Quinn

Today we welcomed Addison Leigh O'Quinn. She was born at 2:30pm, weighing in at 7lbs 2oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She has a head full of dard brown hair. So much, that I could actually put a bow in it and it would stay put! Brady is so proud to be a Big Brother!! He went around the hospital today telling everyone her name!! Everyone is doing GREAT. If all goes as planned, we should be able to go home Friday and hopefully get everyone in a regular routine! Chris and I are hoping that Brady will be as excited about Addison once we get her home as he was today in the hospital! We have enjoyed lots of visitors today and look forward to enjoying more over the next few days! Thanks to all your thoughts and prayers during this pregnancy and delivery! We have truly been Blessed by God with 2 wonderful and healthy children!!

Playing on the slides

Yesterday Chris took Brady to the playground down from our house. I decided to go and get out of the house to take some pictures. He absolutely had a blast! He went down every slide on the playground except one that was just too hot for him. He fell off face first into the sand at the end of one, but didn't get hurt. He just didn't like having the sand in his face. But, that didn't stop him from going down the same slide. I was taking a video of him when it happened, so I hope you enjoy!!!

Helping Papa Work

Brady is not even 2 yet, and already has his first tool belt, fully equipped with hammer, level, ruler, tape measure, chalk line, flashlight, hard hat, and safety goggles. We finally got started on building a storage shed in the backyard so that we can close in our garage to make room for Addison. Brady has really enjoyed helping his Papa work. I just wanted to share some of the pictures with you!!

Easter 2009

Just wanted to share some pictures from Easter with you all! Sunday was a busy day for us. First, we went to church together as a famil, which was nice. We haven't done that in quite a while. Then we went over to Chris' parents house for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt!! Brady found lots of eggs, some of which had money in them, which he later got to put in his piggy bank that his Papa and Nana gave him!! We stayed there and played until about 5:00pm then came home and fought to keep Brady awake until 8:30, since he didn't have a nap all day!!! He made it until after 8:30 by playing on his new Hot Wheels Trike that the Easter Bunny brought him...It's too cute. His little legs aren't long enough to reach the pedals yet, but he loves to ride it. He rides it inside the house. Wherever mommy goes, Brady and his trike are right behind her!!! He also loves to ride it outside, especially in the grass and make mommy push him!! Not much fun for mommy, but he loves it!! Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!! Never forget the reason we actually celebrate it!!! Thank you Jesus!!!!

Christmas 2008

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted anything. So, the next few posts are going to be catching everyone up through pictures. Brady got lots of wonderful gifts for Christmas. He got a set of puzzles, which he loves to dump out into the floor. He also got a Bounce and Spin pony. He's not quite into using it to learn with, but he does like to get on and ride the horsey. He also got an inflatable bus ball pit. He has learned that he can flip it over on it's side while he's inside and thinks it is so funny when he does. His favorite gift, which we will someday pay Uncle Lee and Uncle Chris back for, is Elmo Live. This is an Elmo doll that talks, sings, and dances. He could play with this all day if we'd let him, but for those of you who have heard Elmo's voice, know that listening to Elmo all day would drive any adult in his/her right mind insane!!!!
